As our distillery is close to the ancient hilltop site of Navan Fort which has a special place in our heart.
We created Ard Rí Gin to honour the High Kings of Ireland who ruled from Navan for 2500 years.

Tasting Note

NOSE

The bouquet has a welcoming pine fresh aroma of juniper, followed by crisp notes of apple, rhubarb and ginger.

PALATE

A modern, contemporary cocktail gin. With the juniper discreetly in the background, this Gin allows the tart bramleys apples and tangy Rhubarb to shine. Nicely balanced with Zesty lemon. Almost warming in the mouth from hints of ginger.

FINISH

Well balanced with a sweet fruity finish. Very smooth and light with a softness across the palate from the coriander and ginger.

About Us

House of Navan Spirits Co. based in County Armagh, Ireland. Have created Ard Rí Gin to honour the High Kings of Ireland who ruled from the ancient hill top site of Navan Fort for 2500 years.

This premium contemporary style, small batch Gin, uses traditional botanical such as Juniper, Coriander, Orange & Lemon peel as well as an unexpected infusion of Armagh Bramley Apples to create a delicate dry crisp taste.

Ard Rí is perfect for cocktails, as it has an unusual and complex nose with citrus and apple aromas. Sweet pallet initially with a fruity and slightly nutty finish.

Extremely versatile, Ard Rí Gin is perfect in any classic or modern cocktail, adding flavour to every drop.

Ard Rí Gin & Tonic

Ingredients:

50ml Ard Rí Gin
50ml of Schweppes Tonic Water
Lime peel to garnish

Method:

Add ice to a glass.
Pour in 50ml of Ard Rí Gin.
Add 50ml of Schweppes Tonic Water.
Twist the Lime peel over the glass to release flavour.
Garnish with 3 lime slices.

Tom Collins

Ingredients:

60ml Ard Rí Gin
30ml Fresh Lemon Juice
20ml Sugar Syrup
30ml Schweppes Tonic Water
Slice of lemon to garnish

Method:


Combine first three ingredients in a glass with ice.
Stir and then top with Schweppes Tonic Water.
Garnish with a slice of lemon.
Optional – garnish with peppercorns.
Bramble

Ingredients:

25ml Ard Rí Gin
25ml Lemon Juice
15ml Crème de Mure
Blackberry and a curl of fresh ginger to garnish

Method:


Add Ard Rí Gin and lemon juice to a shaker with ice.
Shake until ice cold.
Strain into a rock glass filled with crushed ice.
Drizzle Crème de Mure over the top of the mixture.
Garnish with a blackberry and a curl of fresh ginger.

Ingredients:

60ml Ard Rí Gin
15ml Maraschino Liqueur
15ml Crème De Violette
25ml Lemon Juice
Maraschino cherry to garnish

Method:


Fill shaker with ice.
Add Ard Rí Gin, Maraschino Liqueur,
Crème De Violette and Lemon Juice.
Shake until ice cold.
Strain into a martini glass.
Garnish with a Maraschino cherry.

Ingredients:

50ml Ard Rí Gin
10ml Dry Vermouth
4 dashes of Orange Bitter
Lemon twist to garnish

Method:


Add all the ingredients to a shaker and stir.
Strain into a Martini glass.
Garnish with a lemon twist.

5ml Fresh lime juice
5ml Lime Cordial
Lime slice to garnish

Method:


Shake ingredients together with ice.
Strain into a martini glass.
Garnish with a lime slice.

25ml Ard Rí Gin
25ml Campari
10ml Sweet Vermouth
Orange slice to garnish

Method:


Add first 3 ingredients to a shaker and mix.
Strain into a glass over ice.
Garnish with a orange slice.

Ard Rí Gin Botanicals

Our choice of Ard Rí Gin Botanicals is giving our Gin an exceptional flavour. Our signature botanical is the Armagh Bramley Apple which has been awarded with Special protected geographical indication Status. County Armagh Bramley Apples are known for their tangy and tart flavour giving and unusual and complex nose with mixed fruit aromas. Big oily and complex with Cirtrus and soft Apple notes and a slightly nutty finish.

Fact In some areas Juniper is believed to be a deterrent against the devil and is burnt on Halloween to ward off evil spirits. When crushed the leaves smell of apples and lemons. All Gin must predominately taste of juniper, so juniper berries are used to give Gin its traditional flavour.

Fact Coriander was an ingredient in a love potion and an aphrodisiac in China during the Han Dynasty 207BC – 200AD We use coriander seeds to give our Ard Rí Gin warm and spicy notes. This perfectly balances the sharp fruitiness of the juniper berries.

Fact Orange peel was first used in Asia to treat digestive disorders. We use bitter orange peels to flavour our Ard Rí Gin.

Fact Angelica has a long history of use in treating colds, congestion and fevers. It is warming and stimulating to the lungs helping to ease chest congestion. Angelica root also gives our Ard Rí Gin its earthy undertones and adds a subtle wooden flavour.

Fact Ancient Greeks used orris in perfumery. In the 13th century the root, mixed with Anise was used to scent linen. Distilled orris root retains its floral notes, but it also carries an earthy dusty sweetness to our Ard Rí Gin.

Fact Lemons reached Greece & Italy via Persia. Lemons lower the risk of stroke, combat cancer & help prevent asthma. Once distilled in our Ard Rí Gin the Lemons remain easily identifiable. The taste is tart but fresh and quite lovely, though it doesn’t linger.
